Saturday’s Castle Route Run turned out to be a great day — and, despite the rather worrying forecast in the days leading up to it, we couldn’t have asked for better weather for the actual run!

20 cars arrived at Cal Dimoni in Algaida ready for the start. After a quick briefing and a chance to collect the route instructions, everyone set off at intervals, heading through the Mallorca countryside towards Santa Maria, Bunyola and eventually up through Orient towards Alaró.

The route gave us a really good mix of roads, from the quieter country lanes to the fantastic mountain section through the Coll d’Honor and towards Orient. The final climb towards Es Verger was, as always, a great way to finish the driving part of the day.

The route also included a few questions and challenges along the way, which gave everyone something extra to look out for. It was nice to see people getting competitive about finding the answers.

The best news was that all 20 cars made it safely to Es Verger, with no major dramas along the way.

Everyone seemed to really enjoy the route, and Restaurant Es Verger was a fantastic choice for lunch. The food, the setting and, most importantly, the company made it a very enjoyable end to the day.

And then, almost perfectly timed, the rain finally arrived — after we had finished the run and were safely inside the restaurant! So perhaps all that worrying about the forecast was unnecessary after all.

A special thank you has to go to Blanca for organising the run and putting the route together. There is always a lot of work involved behind the scenes in planning these events, preparing the instructions and making sure everything runs smoothly, and Saturday’s run was definitely worth all the effort.

All in all, it was another very enjoyable Classic Car Club Day: 20 cars, a great route, good food, plenty of laughs and not a drop of rain until we were already sitting down to lunch.
