An evening to Remember: Russell Stevens Memorial party, 11th Edition

 

We had a fantastic turnout for the 11th edition of the Russell Stevens Memorial party in Port Adriano on 27 August. Thank you to everyone who came in their special cars in honour of the occasion, despite the threat of rain, and to everyone else who understandably came in their day cars and parked outside the cordon. In the end there were only a few sandy spots of rain early on, which led to much car polishing which actually added to the bonhomie.  

 

At 19.30 it was time for the annual one minute rev-up. The drivers raced back to their cars to create a wall of noise heard from one end of Port Adriano to the other, in memory of Russell, the finest petrolhead, driver of a Jensen Interceptor and an originator of the famous weekly Meetup, who sadly died in a freak car accident on the way to a classic car summer event here on the island 11 years ago.

 

After that the Kuko bar was buzzing, the drinks flowed and the bbq excellent. A special 3 course menu available for those who wanted it and approx. 90 delicious freshly cooked beef or chicken burgers served direct from the bbq for everyone else. The dj kept us entertained all evening with good music, relaxed vibes and a great atmosphere. Russell would’ve been delighted.

Not forgetting all the friendly staff at Kuko Bar who looked after us so well and provided the back drop to a memorable evening. See you next year!
