This month’s Car Run was held on the 30 April and was called ‘Happy Days’.  It was organised by Helen Pitt who put together a great route, which took in some spectacular and stunning coastal scenery on the West coast of Mallorca. We also held our Annual General Meeting (AGM), which brought Members up to date with the Club’s activities and finances for 2022.

Almost 40 Members met at the Amadip Café in Palmanova and enjoyed a croissant and coffee before starting the Car Run at 11.00am.  It had rained earlier in the day, but by the time of the Car Run the weather had changed and it was warm and sunny.

The route took us north from Amadip Café to Calvia and then to Es Capdella; from there we headed towards Andratx and took the turning for Estellencs along the coast road, and then onto Banyalbufar, where we treated to some spectacular scenery that took in mountains and sea.  From there we then headed south to Esporles, taking the turn for Puigpunyent and headed towards Palma on the Ma1041.  Along this section of the route some of us stopped for a coffee break at the amazing Es Grau Restaurant & Café, situated at one of the highest points of the island, near Estellencs.

We then took the Ma1016 for Calvia and ended up taking the Ma1043, that took us to Genova, arriving at Lume & Co restaurant, which concluded the Car Run.  The restaurant was especially good with some delicious food in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Helen had devised some interesting questions and included five photos of key sights along the route, with a further set of questions related to those sights, so that we could determine the winners.  After much deliberation the winners were: in first place, it was Alan and Katie Walker, in second place were Alex, Stephanie and Hayden Fleming and in third place were Pedro and Anne Alomar.  Congratulations to you all.

A big thank you to Helen Pitt for organising another great and memorable Car Run, which was well received by all.  Thanks also to everyone who attended.  The next Car Run will be on Sunday 28 May 2023, with the details to follow.
