Halloween Car Run Event Report

1 November 2025

The annual Halloween Car Run, organized by Stan Hunter and Pam Gardner, took place on 1 November 2025, meeting at Amadip, Café Palmanova. This much anticipated event combined a festive car rally with an important milestone for the Car Club—an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) dedicated to electing a new committee to lead the club into its next chapter.

The event began at Amadip, Café Palmanova, where participants were welcomed with complimentary coffee and croissants. The relaxed setting provided members with the perfect opportunity to catch up and discuss the day ahead. The EGM was convened by Pam Gardner, the outgoing President, and Stan Hunter, the outgoing Secretary, both of whom have served the Car Club with dedication and passion.

This meeting marked a significant transition in the club’s leadership. Pam Gardner and Stan Hunter officially handed over the management of the Car Club to a newly elected five-person committee, reflecting the club’s commitment to fresh perspectives and ongoing growth.

The Halloween Car Run was exceptionally well attended, attracting 57 participants and featuring 25 cars. The strong turnout underscored the popularity of the event and the vibrant community spirit within the club.

During the EGM, the following members were duly elected to lead the Car Club:

• President: Matthias Ohm

• Marketing, PR & IT Coordinator: Marisa De Luca

• Treasurer: Andy Sutherland

• Events Managers & Coordinators: Sadie Sutherland and Blanca Ramos Goncalves

The new committee brings a diverse range of skills and enthusiasm that will benefit the club as it continues to grow and offer memorable events to its members. Each new committee member gave a short speech outlining their various attributes and skills, which were well received by all.

The Car Run started at 11am with members being given their directions and instructions. As it was a Halloween-themed Car Run, participants were taken to an archaeological site and two churches, befitting the All-Hallows’ Eve and All Saints’ Day atmosphere. The route first took them to the Sa Marisca Archaeological site near Santa Ponsa, where members had to walk around the site and answer questions. From there, the route took them to Calvia and then on to Puigpunyent, where a coffee stop was arranged alongside a visit to the ‘Església de l’Assumpció’, with further questions posed to participants.

The next leg took them to Galilea and its historic church, the ‘Església de la Immaculada Concepció’, which offered spectacular views of the picturesque village of Galilea, and there were more questions to answer. Leaving Galilea, the drivers drove through Es Capdellà and Andratx, making their way to their final destination, the Club De Vela restaurant in Port d’Andratx.

The scenic route and perfect weather made for ideal open-top driving conditions, and at each stop, members enjoyed the chance to mingle and converse, creating a wonderful social atmosphere. The event concluded with a well-received meal at the restaurant, Club de Vela - a sumptuous three-course lunch accompanied by wine, beer, and soft drinks provided throughout, and finished with coffee.

The answers to the questions were marked and collated and there was a five-way tie for first place. A tie break question was asked to separate them, which was how far it was to drive from the Club De Vela Restaurant in Port d’Andratx to the historic lighthouse at Cap de Formentor. The answer was 119 kilometres, and the winners, Lars and Alexandra Weigl guessed it was 117 kilometres, just 2 kilometres short! Not far behind in second place was Robert and Jane Klevenhagen and in third place was Andy and Sadie Sutherland.

Two further prizes were awarded for best dressed Halloween outfits . The first of the prizes was a close contest between many of the members, as several came appropriately dressed in Halloween outfits, but by a whisker it went to Luisa and Paddy Harrison. The final prize went to Tarjan and Flo’s dog, Bosco, who stole the show with his ghoulish outfit!

Congratulations to all the winners.

A big thank you to Stan Hunter and Pam Gardner for designing and organising such a memorable and enjoyable Car Run.
