The Eurovision Theme Car Run

Saturday, 31st May 2025

This month’s car run was organized by Blanca Ramos, Sadie Sutherland and a great collaboration from Andy Sutherland, and what a fantastic day it was on the road! This classic Car Run was a celebration of timeless cars, beautiful scenery, and a touch of Eurovision sparkle.

Starting bright and early in Campanet, the convoy of classic cars assembled against the backdrop of the Menestralia Restaurant. With the theme of the Eurovision Song Contest, the atmosphere was very festive, from Swedish Sauna inspired outfits & pink frilly shirts to Italian flags waving proudly in the breeze, the enthusiasm and creativity of everyone involved truly brought the Car Run to life. A heartfelt thank you to all participants who embraced the theme – their effort and energy made the day even more memorable.

We set off from Menestralia restaurant just outside the tranquil village of Campanet, nestled at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains. Our route would wind southeast across Mallorca, avoiding the main highways in favor of the island’s charming backroads, weaving through rustic towns, green and lush countryside, and peaceful almond groves. With a destination as idyllic as Molí de Sal by Es Trenc, every kilometer became part of the experience—not just a route, but a discovery.

We started the car run in the peaceful village of Campanet, driving southeast along narrow country roads framed by stone walls and olive trees. The route took us past Llubí, a quiet town famous for its capers, and onward to Sineu, where medieval charm still lingers in its market square and historic church.

From there, we passed Petra, a warm, charming village with a rich history, and from here we took a narrow lane that led us through almond groves and vineyards to the outskirts of Manacor, with this lane becoming one of the highlights of this Car Run.  Letting the countryside guide us onward, the scenery subtly shifted—slightly rockier, more open.

The road to Felanitx was surprisingly peaceful. This town, known for its winemaking tradition, had a distinctly authentic feel, and we had the opportunity to admire the view on the distant hill of Sant Salvador monastery.

Leaving Felanitx, we chose one of the most scenic rural lanes, barely wide enough for two cars. As the sun rose higher, Cas Concos appeared, a charming hamlet surrounded by rolling hills and tucked between fields of barley and carob trees. Here, rustic Mallorca shone at its brightest.

As we continued south, the landscape canopy opened, and we caught sight of the sea, a sign that our Car Run was coming to an end. Near Ses Salines, we glimpsed salt flats and wetlands where flamingos waded in the shallows.

This quiet, scenic route revealed a side of Mallorca that many miss—rural, authentic, and peacefully breathtaking.

Our final stop, the beautiful Restaurant Molí de Sal at Es Trenc, gave us a warm welcome in a beautiful Mallorquian garden setting. The classic cars lined up against the beautiful old building of the restaurant, which created a picture-perfect ending.  We then enjoyed a delicious buffet style meal, over which we shared stories of the run, and the sense of community and shared passion was clear.

Once again, thank you to everyone who participated, dressed up, and helped make this event a great success. Whether you were behind the wheel or navigating the route as co-pilot – you helped make this a truly special last Car Run of this first half of the Car Club’s year.

Finally, a big thank you to Blanca Ramos and Sadie Sutherland, for organising and administrating such a wonderful Car Run. Also, a note of thanks to Andy Sutherland for his assistance.

Until the next Classic Car adventure – keep those engines running and those Eurovision playlists loud!
