Monti Sion Hill Climb Run
Saturday 28th Feb 2026

3rd Prize winners! Ralf & Thekla Reizer

The latest car run, organised by Blanca Ramos with the valued assistance of Marisa De Luca, proved to be a highly enjoyable and well-attended event that combined wonderful scenery, great company, and a shared passion for classic motoring. The day brought together enthusiasts and friends for a memorable journey across the island, complemented by the club’s Annual General Meeting and a relaxed social atmosphere throughout.

We met at Restaurant Son Noguera 1, Llucmajor, where an impressive turnout of 30 cars and 48 participants gathered for the start of the day. The parking area quickly became a display of beautiful classic cars, admired by participants and passers-by alike. From elegant vintage models to carefully maintained modern classics, the variety of vehicles added colour and character to the morning gathering. It was clear from the outset that enthusiasm for the event was high, and the friendly conversations over coffee set a welcoming tone for the day ahead.

Before departure, we held the AGM, which was very well attended and conducted by our President Matthias Ohm, in a positive and constructive spirit. Andy Sutherland our Treasurer presented the accounts and various changes to bank accounts, Marisa de Luca as our marketing manager shared the possible activities ahead and Sadie Sutherland very kindly acted as club Secretary recording the minutes. Members appreciated the opportunity to come together, discuss club matters, and look ahead to future activities. The meeting reflected the strong sense of community that continues to grow within the group.

Although the weather was cloudy, conditions were pleasant, dry, and ideal for driving. At around 11:15, the convoy set off, travelling north towards the centre of the island. The carefully planned route took us through Randa, Montuiri, Pina, and Sencelles, leading drivers along charming small lanes that showcased the quieter and more traditional side of the countryside. The scenery along the way was beautiful, with rolling landscapes, stone walls, and picturesque villages providing a constantly changing backdrop.
A highlight of the journey was the coffee stop in Lloret de Vista Alegre at Es Pau, where participants had the opportunity to stretch their legs, socialise, and admire the cars once again. The relaxed pause allowed everyone to enjoy the atmosphere and share impressions of the route so far.
Adding an extra element of fun, a three-question quiz was organised along the route. Participants were encouraged to stop and explore selected local sights in order to find the answers, which made the drive more interactive and gave many the chance to discover places they might otherwise have passed by. The quiz was warmly received and added a sense of friendly competition to the day.

Following the break, the convoy continued via Montuiri before reaching the final destination at Santuari Monti-Sion. The elevated location offered a fitting conclusion to the drive, rewarding participants with impressive views and a sense of arrival after a thoroughly enjoyable journey. The route as a whole was widely praised, with many commenting on its beauty and the pleasure of driving such scenic roads together.

Before lunch, Gaston Westphal kindly brought along his drone to capture a series of fantastic group photographs. With the sanctuary and surrounding countryside providing such a beautiful backdrop, the aerial pictures perfectly commemorated the occasion and will no doubt serve as a wonderful reminder of the day for everyone who attended.
Lunch was then served at the Montision restaurant, where we enjoyed a very good buffet-style meal in a beautiful private room reserved exclusively for our group. The setting allowed everyone to relax comfortably, share stories from the drive, and continue the social spirit that had characterised the entire event.

During lunch, the winners of the quiz were announced. Congratulations go to Willi Hinghaus and Pepa Warrelmann, who took first place. Second place was awarded to William and Emma Morris, while third place went to Ralf Reizer and Thekla Reizer-Schreiner. Well done to all the winners, and thank you to everyone who took part with such enthusiasm.
The day concluded with thanks extended to all those involved in organising both the run and the AGM. Special appreciation goes to Blanca Ramos and Marisa De Luca for their excellent planning and coordination, which ensured everything ran smoothly from start to finish.
We now look forward to the next meeting, which will take place on the 28th of March and will be organised by Gaston Westphal. If this event is anything to go by, it promises to be another enjoyable gathering for all members. Further details will follow.
