It was certainly an evening to remember and not to forget at The Boat House in Palma on Wednesday evening June 17th as well over 100 cars and hundreds of people came to celebrate the life of Russell Stevens, the Founder of The Driving Mallorca Car Club who tragically lost his life in a car crash on 7 June 2015.

I am sure that the gathering of many of Mallorca’s Car Clubs and owners of unique cars will become an annual event at The Boat House. Although it was an evening of sadness it was a time to talk and to celebrate the life of Russell, who had created the buzz at The Boat House each Wednesday evening as it became known for the place to go if you wanted to see classic, supercars and special cars. With over 100 cars in the car park and hundreds of people coming along to the evening of Celebration, it is clear that the car club scene in Mallorca is growing and is not only bringing much joy to all who belong to one of the clubs but also to all who just like to see the cars close up.

With a BBQ, a DJ and with outside bars set up in the car park the talk was of cars and of Russell. Paul a member of the Driving Mallorca Club gave a short speech about Russell and the club he founded, followed by one minutes silence, but after that minute, the silence was broken as the cars revved up their engines in honour of Russell and much to the delight of everyone there. The engine noises must have been heard well into Palma. Many said Russell would have been over the moon with that and they are not wrong!!

The Car Club scene continues and The Boat House on a Wednesday evening will still be the place to be if you like your cars or want to bring your own classic or special car to show. Long may it continue and it was all down to Russell and his dream of putting the club car scene on the map of Mallorca.
